About ISO Basketball

Built for the Irish game.

An Irish basketball brand that is #tailored4hoopers. We're here to fix what's been wrong with the gear for years, and to help grow the sport while we're at it.

The story

We started ISO because Irish basketball deserved better than rebadged GAA gear.

ISO was founded on 30 June 2023 by Seán Greene. Seán grew up playing soccer, but at fifteen he fell hard for basketball. Watching Stephen Curry and Derrick Rose pulled him in, and he ended up practising outside until all hours. He started playing for a club. He got obsessed.

At the same time, Seán was working with a teamwear company that mostly served GAA clubs. And he kept noticing the same thing. When basketball clubs ordered gear, what came back was GAA gear with a basketball crest on it. Tight cuts. Stripes down the sides. The wrong fabrics. None of the swagger the sport is built on.

Basketball clubs in Ireland were being handed GAA gear with basketball crests on them. Someone had to fix it.

Two years before ISO existed, Seán had already started BIW Media. It launched in 2021 as basketballireland.world, an Instagram page covering Irish basketball news, highlights and the players doing the work. Think of it as ESPN for Irish hoops. BIW exists for one reason: to grow the sport in Ireland and give Irish players the platform they deserve. It's still going, and it isn't ISO's marketing channel. It's a separate mission that happens to share an owner.

ISO was the answer to the gear problem. A brand designed from the ground up for basketball. Looser cuts, hooded layers, the right fabrics, products built for hoopers and nothing else. The name "ISO" comes from the one-on-one play in basketball, and from the reality of starting a business and other struggles people face in everyday life. You'll have to go one-on-one against the doubts, and most days you're doing it alone.

Seán's brother Joe designed the logo. The mark is a basketball-jersey number zero with a slanted "I" running through it. The slanted line resolves into an S, the zero into an O. All three letters of ISO, hidden inside the symbol. We wanted a mark that meant something on its own, the way the swoosh does for Nike.

Three years on, ISO serves more than fifty clubs across Ireland and the UK, with around thirty live club shops on the site. We're a small team. Tailored4hoopers. We're growing steadily, and we're just getting started.

The team

Small team. Sharp focus.

We're not a big operation, and we don't pretend to be. We're the people who pick up the phone, design your kit, pack your order, and check in at the end of the season.

Founded ISO in 2023. Looks after teamwear clubs, design briefs and most things that don't have a name on them yet.

What makes us different

The things we do that nobody else does.

A lot of teamwear suppliers will tell you they're customer-focused. Here's what that actually looks like at ISO.

01

Built for basketball, not adapted to it

No GAA stripes. No soccer cuts. No tight-fit jerseys. Every fabric, cut and product we make is designed around how the game is actually played.

02

Free, unlimited designs

You shouldn't have to pay to see what your kit could look like. Tell us what you want and we design it. As many rounds as it takes to get it right.

03

Every club gets a unique design

Premium fabrics at a price clubs can actually afford. No two ISO clubs ever end up wearing the same kit.

04

Replies in minutes, not days

Email, WhatsApp, Instagram, whichever channel suits. We aim to come back within the hour during the working day. Most teams switching to us mention this is a big problem they faced with other brands.

05

Fitting days and in-person samples

We come to your club with samples so players can try sizes before ordering. Before you sign anything, you should know exactly what you're getting.

06

Updates the whole way through

Order confirmed, in production, quality-checked, packed, shipped. You hear from us at every stage. Not silence followed by a tracking number.

07

The number-locking system

Our club shops won't let two players in adjacent age groups end up with the same jersey number. As far as we know, no other Irish brand offers this.

08

End-of-season check-ins

We call every club at the end of the year to find out what worked, what didn't and what to fix. It's not the easiest conversation. It's the most useful one.

09

Reorders mid-season, no problem

Player joins late? Jersey goes missing? Club shops reopen four or more times a year, and one-off replacements are never a hassle.

Your turn
